Construction quantity takeoff

Drawings in.
A sourced bid out.

BlueMeasura reads a project's drawings and soil studies, chooses the work items they call for, and quantifies each one, with every number traced to the sheet it came from.

Takeoff is still done by hand.

01

Read the set

A specialist reads every sheet of the drawing set and every page of the reports.

02

Match a catalogue

The drawn work is matched by hand against a client catalogue that runs to thousands of items.

03

Measure, then repeat

Each item is measured from the drawings. On the next project, the same work starts again from zero.

How it works

Six stages, from upload to sign-off.

  1. Receive

Drawings and reports go into private, per-project storage.

  2. Read

Every entity class in the CAD and every page of the PDFs is extracted, not just the text.

  3. Choose

The work items the drawings call for are picked from the client's own catalogue.

  4. Bind

Each measuring method finds its inputs in this project's drawings, and staff confirm them.

  5. Quantify

Methods compute each quantity, and they re-run whenever the inputs change.

  6. Review

The client sees each source, asks questions, and locks what they accept.

Principles

Built to be trusted with a bid.

Every number has a source

Each quantity names the sheet, table, dimension or report page it came from, so a reviewer can check it in one click.

Blank beats wrong

A quantity with no defensible source stays blank and says what would unlock it. Nothing is guessed to fill a cell.

Methods, not one-offs

How a work item is measured is stored as a method. Once approved, it runs on the next project's drawings.

People decide

Staff confirm inputs and the client locks what they accept. The system proposes; it never signs.

Checked continuously

Dozens of automated checks verify that figures, sources and client answers still agree with each other.

Bilingual by design

Spanish and English throughout, so field teams and owners read the same bid.

What it reads

The data is in the drawings.
The reader has to find the right layer.

Status

In pilot on live commercial bids in Mexico.

Now

Drawings read, items chosen and quantities computed, each with its source, on real projects reviewed by the client.

Next

Methods approved once per client and re-run on every new project's drawings, with staff only confirming.

Then

More clients, catalogues and trades on the same platform, each in its own branded space.
